To help us all get back to our creative self, I’m offering workshops from my home in Shropshire for Summer 2021.
I will be offering mixed media textiles, collage and stitch. Jenny O’Leary, Textile Artist/Tutor will be offering cold water wax resist on tissue and paper. Leo Donaghy, Artist/Tutor will be here to deliver workshops in ink, mark and collage. Christine Kelly aka GentleWork will be here to combine delicate hand stitching with vintage fabric and notions.
Mixed Media Textile Collage With Suzette Smart
Saturday 22nd May 2021. 10am to 4pm THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL Create a mixed media textile collage on this one day workshop. You will begin by making your own mixed media fabric to use in your picture. These fabrics will be cut and collaged together for your jug. More details will be added to your work with an image transfer method. I will show with samples and by demonstrating how you may develop your work further with hand stitched marks and free machine embroidery. Materials are included. Suitable for all levels. Folded Sketchbooks using Wax Resist, collage And Inks With Jenny O’Leary
Tuesday, 25th May 2021. 10am to 4pm Using landscape and/or the garden as our inspiration we will use various forms of cold wax resist with inks and bleach, also paper collage, to create images in a folded sketchbook. Lots of ideas will be given to help create a one off book which could be added to with stitch at a later date. Materials are included. Suitable for all levels. Nature Cure, A Workshop With Christine Kelly
Wednesday, 26th May. 10am to 4pm THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL. Enjoy a day of gentle hand stitching inspired by flora and fauna. We will weave together nature finds, vintage fabric and paper with hand embroidery and applique. There will be lots of examples to inspire you to create your own one off piece of artwork or to begin to create your own nature inspired bunting. Tea Bag Landscapes With Jenny O’Leary
Tuesday, 15th June. 10am to 4pm THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL Using dried tea bags as a base, we will create mini landscapes using pens, inks and acrylic paints. Keep Safe, A workshop With Christine Kelly
Wednesday, 16th June. 10am to 4pm THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL In this workshop you will create a handstitched home for your personal treasures or memories. We will stitch a purse, pocket, wallet or fabric roll in which to store your special things, personalising them with meaningful embroidered words. Some materials are included but please feel free to bring your own special fabrics or trimmings to personalise your piece. THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL

Saturday, 19th June. 10am to 4pm Using a journey as inspiration, create a piece of work on this one day workshop which can be developed further into a folded book or panel. You will use fabric collage with image transfer and add text into your work to make it personal to you. Create A Pond Using Chinese Brush Painting With Leo Donaghy
Monday, 21st June. 10am to 4pm Take a pen, a Chinese brush, some ink, a splash of colour then head for the pond! This day is about looking at imagery found in and around the garden pond. Using a mixture of drawing and Chinese brush painting, we will create a circular pond with simply drawn fish, insects and plants. The final piece will be mounted and backed, Chinese style, ready to take home. All equipment will be supplied, including mounts and backing paper. Suitable for all levels. Pen And Ink Collage With Leo Donaghy
Saturday, 17th July. 10am to 4pm Do you have old work that feels unfinished? Learn how to bring it back to life by taking inspiration from the work of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi’s ‘One Hundred Aspects of the Moon’. We will use ink, brush, pen and collage to create some beautiful images. The work will be completed on Xian paper – backed and mounted ready to take home. Please bring water based inks or paints (whatever you have at home) and some old pieces of work that can be cut up. All other equipment, including the Xian paper and mount, will be supplied.
