Thursday, 4th May, 2023. 10am to 4pm. Create a beautifully stitched lid for your box using free machine embroidery and fabric collage. Take inspiration from the garden and hedgerows for the focus of your design. The finishing touches maybe a vintage button or a cluster of French knots. When your piece of work is finished, it will be folded and tucked needing just a couple of stitches to keep it in place. Cover the base of your box with a fabric to compliment on your return home. Suitable for those with some experience of free machine embroidery. The tutor will provide the pelmet vilene base for the boxes and there are extra fabrics for collage. Requirements will be sent out with booking confirmation. The venue is Welsh Frankton Hall, SY11 4NX. It’s alongside the A495 between Ellesmere and Oswestry. Plenty of parking and easy to offload. Saturday, 28th January, 2023. 10am to 4pm. Cost £70. *FULLY BOOKED* Create a set of small collages using my image transfer/lamination method and you may wish to add to these with hand or machine stitching. These small works will then be lined up and stitched down the spine to make fabulous little textile books. I will guide you through the steps so it is suitable for beginners but plenty of scope to experiment for the more experienced. Some of the materials are provided. This workshop in a box comes with a foundation fabric, a set of robin fabrics and a set of fabrics for your petals and leaves. There is also a 7 inch bamboo embroidery hoop, bondaweb and robin templates. You will be guided through the workshop with a set of illustrated instructions. Follow the steps and learn techniques for fabric collage and free machine stitching which can be taken and used in new projects. There are ideas for composition, threads and hand stitching too. In the box you will find all the fabrics needed to make this design, including mixed media samples and specially selected fabrics for the allium, berries and background.
